Hermanos y Hermanas, December 17, 2021
On behalf of my entire family and the entire National Board, I would like to extend my heartfelt wishes to all of you for a wonderful and joy filled Holiday Season. We hope all of you have an opportunity to pause and reflect upon all our blessings as the year winds down. Despite all that has happened in the past two years with COVID, civil unrest, “defund the police” rhetoric, and spikes in crime rates, we still have a lot to be thankful for. We all look forward to a much better 2022 and beyond.
Please keep all our brother and sister Officers, Deputies, Agents, and Civilian Personnel that we lost this past year in your thoughts and prayers. Whether it be due to an on-duty incident, COVID, or other reason, their loss is still painful to the entire law enforcement profession and family.
I encourage all of you to remain steadfast in your dedication to the law enforcement profession despite all that has occurred in the past year. The vast majority of the American public supports and stands behind us. Don’t let the vile rhetoric of a few dishearten your resolve. Duty and Honor must prevail.
As we enter 2022, please take care of yourselves and strive for better personal and professional resiliency. Focus on the positive and not the negative and continue to look after one another on a daily basis.
In 2022 we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the NLPOA. We will commemorate this at our national conference and training event in San Diego, Sept 14-17, 2022. Our theme this year is, “NLPOA Honoring the Past, Trailblazing the Future.” The venue is a spectacular resort and conference center. Registration is on our website, https://nlpoa.com/ I hope you will make plans to attend this event.
Lastly, I will challenge all of you to spread the message of the NLPOA in your communities and to recruit additional members into our organization. Numbers represent solidarity and commitment within our profession and Latino culture.
Please take care and be safe always,
Kenneth D. Chavez
